About the Foundation

Rockford Education Foundation, independent from Rockford Public Schools, is a non-profit 501(3)(c) tax-exempt organization. It is run by a volunteer board of directors, dedicated to providing valuable educational experiences and innovative projects for all students in the Rockford Area Schools.  The Foundation is a conduit between the school district and those who wish to give money to support our schools.

Support for the Foundation comes entirely through community contributions!

  • parents and community members
  • local and corporate contributions
  • annual fundraising event and projects

Thanks to your support, the foundation has received $525,000 in donations to date!

How we started

In 2004, community leaders began exploring ideas to make the Rockford Area Schools educational programs viable to continue and grow in learning opportunities for the area children. The Foundation received three key donations which laid the groundworks to build upon. The gifts of $25,000 from the Francis family, $30,000 from the Cates family and $5,000 from the Rockford Lions Club, purchased a computer lab, items for the gifted and talented program and many textbooks.
