Where did you grow up?
I was born in Minnesota. We lived in Crystal until I was 3. My dad was in the Navy so we moved to Alameda California. We lived next to a Navy base for the end of the Vietnam war. Lots of unrest and protesting. We moved back to Minnesota when I was going into 6th grade. We lived in Brooklyn Park near the Mississippi River. After College in Duluth I lived for 9 months in Florida doing construction work. For the last 26 years we have lived in Buffalo.

Where High School did you graduate from?
Anoka

Where did you attend college?
Undergraduate University of Minnesota – Duluth
(4 years computer science them 1.5 years Teaching Math).

Additional education or training?
Masters – St. Mary’s University.

How many years have you been a teacher?
I was a substitute and long-term sub for 2 years then came to Rockford.
I have worked for Rockford Area Schools for 31 years.

Why did decide to become a math teacher?
I was close to a math degree after computer science. I decided I didn’t want to sit at a computer programing for the rest of my life so I looked at what else I was good at. My cousin commented on how I would drop whatever I was doing to help others with their school work. So I looked at getting my teaching license.

Coaching/ Extracurricular activities at RHS
7th grade football, Jr. high Track, Assistant wrestling coach, Assistant Cross-country coach, Mock trial, Robotics.

Family
My family is my life. That’s why I do what I do. I have 3 kids and 4 grandkids with another on the way this summer.

What are your plans when you retire?
Spend time with my family.
