Tradition Capital Bank Donates $10,000 in memory of Mark Luhmann

Tradition Capital Bank donated $10,000 toward the Mark Luhmann STRIVE Scholarship Fund in memory of Mark Luhmann, who passed away from pancreatic cancer in November of 2014.  Mark Luhmann was a dedicated employee for Tradition Capital Bank for many years and was a passionate leader for the Rockford STRIVE program.

The Mark Luhmann STRIVE Scholarship fund provides scholarships to students enrolled in the Rockford STRIVE Mentorship Program. The program was developed on the premise that students who academically ranked in the lower half of their class have the same natural abilities and gifts as those who are in the upper half. The difference is often motivation, work habits, self esteem, attendance, and performance in the classroom. STRIVE challenges these students to improve their work, gain self-confidence and discover the satisfaction of achievement. The Foundation administers STRIVE Scholarships and serves as the fiscal agent for the program.

The first recipient of the Mark Luhmann STRIVE Scholarship was
Giovanni Garcia,
in June, 2015.

Halverstadts donate $10,000 to Project Lead the Way class

This past Fall, Bill and Donna Halverstadt graciously donated $10,000 to start the Rockford Middle School Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Energy and the Environment class!

PLTW’s Gateway program is a strong foundation for further learning in the STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.) The project challenges students to solve real-world problems, such as designing a home that is insulated for maximum efficiency. Using the same advanced software and tools as those used by the world’s leading companies, students learn how to apply math, science, technology, and engineering to their everyday lives.

The Foundation was also awarded an additional $1,000 grant from W-H Operation Round Up to support this class.

Look for future reports on this exciting class!
